Are you kidding? An extra 2.5 bill...Yes on Prop 82? Are you kidding? An extra 2.5 billion tax to only increase the number of kids in preschool from 66% to 70%? Worst of all, the auditor figured that the higher tax would cause so many millionaires to move out of the state, the state would end up LOSING 4 billion dollars per year in the general revenue fund -- thus meaning cuts in regular schools, health care, etc. Many of the union folks reading this might lose their jobs as a result; and then, by the new law, wouldn't even have the qualifications necessary to work in the preschools that took their jobs! Dumb, unnecessary proposal that sounds nice -- "tax the rich" -- but really just slashes our own throats.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6986222.post-1149214380321182682006-06-01T19:13:00.000-07:002006-06-01T19:13:00.000-07:00nancy for mayor! To be elected Oakland Mayor, a can...nancy for mayor!

To be elected Oakland Mayor, a candidate must receive a majority
(more than 50% of the vote), not a 'plurality' (more than anyone else).

There are six candidates for Oakland Mayor in the June 6 primary election. Three are running strong campaigns. Unless one candidate receives more than 50% of the votes on June 6, the top two will face each other in a run-off election on November 7. A November run-off is all but certain. A vote for Nadel in the June 6 primary is a 'safe' vote and does not risk 'splitting the progressive vote.'Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
