Not that anybody asked me, but this so-called Medical Center deficit is totally bogus.
The cause of this alleged deficit is the Alameda County Board of Supervisors' ridiculous and outrageous demand that the Medical Center "re-pay" the County about $200 million for the County's support of the Medical Center over the past several years.
The County Supervisors are now punishing the Medical Center and the public for the Board of Supervisors' decades-long mismanagement of the Medical Center. The Supes are operating under the delusion that the Medical Center is somehow less deserving of County support than other County functions.
Are they demanding that the Welfare Department reimburse the County for past support? How about the County parks? County libraries? The County Jail? Of course not, only the Medical Center has to pay back!
If it weren't for this outrageous demand by the County Board of Supervisors the Medical Center could actually deliver the "Health Care For All' that was promised by Measure A backers in 2004.
Measure A now generates between $70-75 million a year for the Medical Center.
But the Supervisors wrote Measure A in such a way as to allow themselves to reduce County support for the Medical Center.
In other words, Measure A was a scam by the Supervisors to take advantage of the high level of public support for health care and for the Medical Center in order to fund other, non-health care County programs!
Shame on the County Supervisors for their shabby treatment of the Medical Center!
Shame on the Medical Center Board of Trustees for going along with this charade!
If the voting public only knew!

NOW ITS OUR TIME AGAIN TO PUT ON OUR PUMPS AND WALK THE HOE STROLL AGAIN. AND ASKED BIG DADDY(BOARD OF SUPERVISORS) HOW MUCH MONEY YOU NEED. OR MAYBE ITS TIME TO PULL OFF THE WIGS AND SLAP BIG DADDYS AND SAID WERE ARE NOT GOING TO HOE ANYMORE,SO DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO
